Day 2 - Alright body time to join the party!

Okay. Yesterday was not too bad for a first day.  I was sleep deprived but managed to eat three reasonably portioned meals and I had no snacks at all, not even after dinner.  Cool!  The only thing I didn't accomplish was exercise.  I've been having trouble sleeping for about the last week and it's messing with me a bit.  I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and we just increased my dose because my blood work was a disaster.  It always messes with my sleep when we do this.  It will settle out.  In the meantime, I just need to push through it and get the job done. If I wear myself out, instead of sitting on the couch feeling sorry for myself, it will help with my sleep.  I also have arthritis (the jury is still out on if it's RA or just regular old arthritis) and it decided to come out to play today.  So, I'm like "What the hell body! Don't you realize I'm doing something good for us?".  It'll last a day or so and then I'll be good to go.  I wanted to start strength training today but weight on my hands is not happening so I'm going to just do 15 minutes on my elliptical.  I know that's not a long time but it's more than I've been doing, so it's an improvement.

My little elliptical

I forgot to mention yesterday that I'm also trying to quit smoking (for like the millionth time in my lifetime).  I haven't been smoking long this time, so it shouldn't be horrible.  I usually fall of the wagon when I get stressed and I lost my job about a month ago because the lab where I worked lost their grant money.  Sucks but I can concentrate on me right now which is a plus.  Starting day 3 without a cigarette so "Yay me!".

My husband thinks I'm crazy because I'm looking for a job/trying to decide what I'm going to do with the rest of my life, starting a new way of eating and exercising and quitting smoking.  However, he's also used to his crazy wife doing everything at the same time so he just kind of rolls with it now.

Alright, so this is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Shakeology (No. I'm not a Beachbody coach. Don't panic. I just like it.)

Lunch: A PB& J sandwich (not the best choice but I was eating 2 - baby steps)

Dinner: Small portion of enchilada casserole

Right, I forgot.  I'm also going to try to eliminate as much sugar from my diet as possible, which is harder than you think because we're surrounded by it.  It will help balance my energy levels throughout the day and will help reduce/eliminate inflammation.  I've done it before and I felt great.  I'm trying to remember that feeling while I do this.

Any who, that's it for day 1.  Not to bad but there are definitely things I need to work on.

Everyone, have a great day and as one of my favorite poodles, Chance, says...always put your best paw forward.

Not Chance. My poodle Pico when he was a puppy.
